The Sami in Norway have always been in close contact with mother nature and to this day swear to the lavvo for protection against the harsh weather. This is also our inspiration for our Lavvo PC. We have used a fabric that takes the best from two worlds, with the good properties of synthetic fabric and the good properties of cotton. With the Hybrid fabric consisting of polyester and cotton, we present a strong, breathable and relatively light fabric, compared to a 100% cotton canvas. This means that you can still pack the tent into the backpack, with the breathable and insulating properties of a cotton tent. To prevent the polycotton fabric from absorbing dirt and moisture from the ground, we have installed a very robust nylon section at the very bottom of the tent. This is able to withstand a rougher treatment where you may load it with snow and stones to make the tent even more stable in inclement weather.
We have removed the traditional opening in the roof, which is often found in the tradional tipi, simply because we think you do not need this very often. When you are out on your expedition and have been walking a distance, you need a tent which is available to set up instantly. A campfire in the tipi is unfortunately often a smokey and unpleasant affair until the fire finally gets settled. Not quite the idyllic atmosphere you wanted. Therefore, we have replaced the smoke opening with a pipe hole for a wood burning stove which we think is a better option. Here you get the warmth while avoiding all the disadvantages of a bonfire. In addition, the wood burning stove is also a natural place for heating water, cooking, etc. Together with our titanium or stainless wood stove you have a warm, safe, robust and mobile retreat whether you're up in the mountains, on the vast plains or in the deepest forest.
Our lavvo is lower than a traditional tipi. This is to achieve a perfect combination between comfort and aerodynamics. With its 226 cm from bottom to top and 426 cm diameter we have made a tipi with a relative small angle so that the energy of the wind is not left on the flysheet, but is led up and around the tipi. Common tipis usually have 6 to 8 edges. Thus, not a very aerdynamic cone shape where the wind easily catches the walls of the tent. Our tipi has 20 fastening points along the flysheet to accomplish the aerdynamic cone shape. The Lavvo 6 PC is an extremely strong and steady tent that can withstand most weather conditions. In most cases, side guyout points are redundant. However, Lavvo 6 PC is equipped with 10 side guyout points all around the tent to further enhance its performance in extreme weather conditions. This tent is a perfect choice in any situation, both in Summer and Wintertime. To ensure that the tent stands steady as a rock, you can stake the 20 stake fittings with our flexible plug/ stakeout-system, to almost nail it to the ground. If this should not be enough to ensure a good night's sleep in rough weather, you can also add snow/ dirt/ stones over the snow skirt to stabilize it even further. Notice! Do not leave your tent unattended during snowfall. Build up of too much snow on the flysheet will eventually damage the tipi.
The flysheet for Lavvo 6 PC is a hybrid fabric where two different worlds meet another. The polycotton fabric consists of a mixture of synthetic polyester and natural cotton. (PC polyester, cotton). Polyester reduces weight and at the same time helps to strengthen the fabric with its rip-stop properties compared to a 100% cotton fabric which would perform weaker in that regard. The cotton in the fabric makes the polycotton breathable in such a way that humid air passes through the fabric (does not hit the wall and create condensation), but at the same time protects against rain and precipitation from the outside. With the breathable fabric condensation is close to zero inside the tent. This means that you don't require an inner tent to protect from dripping wet inside walls. The inner tent is more a neccessity on synthetic, non-breathable fabrics, where condensation builds up more easily. The breathable fabric provides a minimum of condensation and the indoor climate is experienced as much drier and warmer compared to pure synthetic tents. NORTENT Lavvo 6 PC also has two air valves at the front and a large air valve at the back of the top of the tent. This contributes to further ventilation in the tent. The PC fabric regulates the temperature inside if it gets too hot. On particularly hot days where there is an extra need for ventilation in the tent, you can also open the two doors to regulate the air flow further. In addition, our Lavvo has sewn in mosquito nets in both entrances that keep the insects out when you want to keep the door open on the hot summer days.

Inner tent
If you add a high quality inner tent in your Lavvo, you will be able to control not just the temperature, but the indoor air quality as well. In addition to this the ground beneath you, were you may sleep, eat and live, will stay dry all day long, no matter how much rain that’s hammering towards your tipi. Our own stove alongside our inner tent will do the trick to create a incredible warm, dry and sheltered tent life no matter what time a year. The inner tent itself can be opened up to easily access the woodstove.
We have designed the tent in a way that makes it possible for you to store your backpacks, clothes, shoes and so on just a arm’s length outside the inner tent entrance. Here, with the heat from our woodstove, all your humid equipment can dry up any time a day. Furthermore, there is a smaller room behind the inner tent where you can store up things like wet shoes. Of course this storage space is also sheltered from weather and wind. Our Inner tent is made of the super light material “Ripstop Nylon” which is also breathable. But then again. The inner tent is not that important in the Lavvo 6 PC other than protecting against bugs.

Lavvo 6 inner Arctic:
Floor
Fully enclosed floor for Lavvo 6 PC for protection against insects and moisture from the ground. For our nylon tents, we do not recommend a fully enlosed floor because of the potential condensation that runs down the tent walls and thus will make parts of the floor wet if it is fully enclosed. But with the polycotton Lavvo, you have minimal condensation where the floor helps to create an extra warm and cozy atmosphere in the tent.
The floor is designed with a stove in mind. But also, we know that wet and dirty clothes is a part of almost every journey. This is why you need to be able to roll parts of the floor away for stove, wet clothes and boots. This is done by a double zipper that goes in a semicircle on the front part of the floor. The floor is easily attached to dedicated buckles along the lower part of the tent.

Carbon fiber pole
If you want to go even lighter, the Carbon pole for the NORTENT Lavvo 6 may be the right choice for you. It is about 2/3 weight (300 grams less) of the standard center-pole of aluminum, with somewhat same strength. The center-pole is adjustable to easily fit the lenght of the tent even with uneven ground, etc.
